With pre-terminated enclosures, the new ADC OmniReach MDU solutions allow for distribution nodes to be added to FTTX networks with greatly reduced installation times and long-term maintenance costs, as well as improved system reliability. ADC's new OmniReach MDU solutions will be showcased at the TelecomNEXT conference in Las Vegas Las Vegas (läs vā`gəs), city (1990 pop. 258,295), seat of Clark co., S Nev.; inc. 1911. ADC's OmniReach MDU Solutions address the "last mile" of the network--serving as the demarcation point The location within a home or office where the lines from the telephone company connect to the customer's lines.  for electronics and home wiring where the end user is connected in the more densely populated MDU applications. These solutions support both high and low fiber count applications and feature compact, robust enclosures.

"Our new MDU solutions provide high performance interconnection of fiber cables and equipment for apartments, condominiums, town homes, and campuses. It is designed to support both low and high fiber count applications with environmentally protective enclosures and high performance cable assemblies and connectivity components," said Tom Kampf, vice president of FTTX solutions for ADC. "Like our other OmniReach products, the new MDU solutions help to allow service providers to complete FTTX network installation, maintenance and change outs quickly and easily with minimal disruption and cost and increased reliability."

Tailored to deliver customized solutions for the MDU segment of an FTTX network, the ADC OmniReach MDU solutions provide high performance interconnection of fiber cables and equipment in the more densely populated MDU applications (i.e. apartments, condominiums, town homes, and campuses). Included in the new OmniReach MDU product line are Fiber Distribution Cabinets, Distribution Terminals, and Drop Cables, all designed to support both indoor and outdoor applications.

The OmniReach Fiber Distribution Cabinets, available in pole or pad mount arrangements for outdoor applications and rack, wall and pedestal mount arrangements for indoor applications, are placed strategically in the FTTX network or inside an access point in larger MDU structures to facilitate service connection to the MDU. For small- to medium-sized MDU structures, the OmniReach family of outdoor, environmentally protective Distribution Terminals, are used to provide fast and simplified subscriber connection via hardened or non-hardened interface from distribution cable to drop cable connecting to the Optical Network Terminal (ONT ONT Ontario (old acronym - ON is now frequently used)

).

ADC's rugged and reliable outdoor drop cables provide for rapid factory quality connection to the MDU. The Indoor Distribution Terminals, a rugged, secure and compact family of fiber demarcation enclosures, provide a flexible, space efficient, craft friendly and economical interface for connecting fiber cables in MDU applications. Using the OmniReach high performance indoor drop cables, FTTX premises equipment can be easily and reliably connected within the MDU.

"Representing a growing subscriber base of network builds compared to detached single-family homes, MDUs are an often-overlooked segment of the FTTX market," added Kampf. "In the U.S., there are more than 30 million MDU households, not including nearly three million 'alternative' MDUs, such as colleges and universities, military housing and assisted living as·sist·ed living
