Service Assurance Solutions Expected to Improve Customer Contact

Management for Taiwanese Operator

ADC (Nasdaq:ADC; www.adc.com), a leading global supplier of fiber optics, network equipment, software and integration services for broadband, multi-service networks, today announced the signing of an agreement with Taiwanese wireless network operator Far EasTone (FET). FET will be using the Singularit.e operational support system (OSS) solution to improve customer contact service management.

FET is a joint venture between the Far East Group and AT&T with licenses to operate the GSMc (900 MHz) and DCS (1800 MHz) networks for nationwide coverage. FET, one of the leading carriers in Taiwan, chose the ADC solution as it retains a large amount of network performance data which allows their Quality of Service (QoS) to be improved through the availability of better historical data. The contract covers service assurance solutions - Metrica/NPR and Metrica/Web. FET will use the Metrica products to monitor, analyse and manage its network performance.

The Metrica/NPR network performance management solution provides fast and flexible access to performance data. It offers network operators a reliable tool to gather, analyse and understand network availability, levels of interface, dropped calls, congestion, traffic levels and other key performance indicators (KPI).

Metrica/Web complements Metrica/NPR by enabling the sharing of key network information within the organization. FET has already been able to offer its staff more flexible configuration and improved access to network performance data. Metrica/Web uses client/server technology that enables users to interact with standard outputs from Metrica/NPR via a standard web browser interface.

Performance management is key to FET's effectiveness in a rapidly expanding market. The joint activities of AT&T and Far East Group mean that there is close attention to the multi-vendor network performances of individual operators. The Singularit.e solution will contribute to the efficient managing and reporting of network performance.
