Compact, Cost-Effective Cable Modem Termination System

Selected as Best Data over Cable Technology

ADC (Nasdaq:ADCT; www.adc.com) today announced that its Cuda 1000 cable modem termination system (CMTS) has been selected as the "Best Data over Cable Technology" award recipient at the Cable & Satellite International/Mediacast Product of the Year Awards 2003. The Cuda 1000 was judged as the most important and innovative new product launched in the previous 18 months in a competition against products from ARRIS, Thomson, C-COR and Narad Networks. ADC received the award at a special ceremony that was held at Mediacast 2003 on May 20, at London's ExCel Exhibition Centre.

"We are extremely pleased that the Cuda 1000 has been selected as the best data-over-cable technology by Cable & Satellite International and Mediacast," said Hilton Nicholson, president of the IP Cable Business Unit for ADC. "This award is particularly significant because of the excellence of the judging panel and the knowledge that the Cuda 1000 was evaluated on the basis of its technical innovation, uniqueness and that it meets the needs of cable operators."

ADC's compact Cuda 1000 enables both large and small cable operators to provide advanced, revenue-generating services such as streaming video and second line telephony without the costs of installing larger systems. The Cuda 1000 offers many of the features vital to carrier-class access devices, in a compact and efficient solution. These features include the Quality of Service (QoS) features necessary to maximize revenue and the routing capabilities necessary to minimize the dependency on additional network devices. The Cuda 1000 also offers the performance requirement necessary to support the network access services needs of both today and tomorrow.

The Product of the Year Awards is a joint venture between Cable & Satellite International magazine and Mediacast 2003 to recognize technological innovation and excellence in broadband communications.
