ADAPTIX Issued U.S. Patent for Multi-Carrier Communication.

OFDMA OFDMA Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiple Access
OFDMA Ofdm Access
Leader's Mobile WiMAX See WiMAX and 802.16.  IP Portfolio Continues to Grow

DALLAS -- The U.S. Patent and Trademarks Office (USPTO USPTO
abbr.
United States Patent and Trademark Office
) has issued U.S. Patent No. 7,164,669, entitled "Multi-carrier communication with time division multiplexing (communications) time division multiplexing - (TDM) A type of multiplexing where two or more channels of information are transmitted over the same link by allocating a different time interval ("slot" or "slice") for the transmission of each channel. I.e.  and carrier-selective loading," to ADAPTIX, a pioneer in the development of OFDMA and Mobile WiMAX technologies. In the highly competitive space of OFDMA intellectual property, ADAPTIX continues to grow its portfolio focused on Mobile WiMAX and next generation wireless technologies.

Following the initial filing in 2002, U.S. Patent No. 7,164,669 was issued on Jan. 16, 2007 and describes a method for subcarrier A secondary telecommunications channel that resides within the main channel (a carrier within a carrier). A type of multiplexing, the subcarrier is a modulated carrier signal at a lower frequency that is combined with the main carrier signal running at a higher frequency.  allocation and loading for a multi-carrier, multi-subscriber system. The issuance of this patent is significant to the industry in that it provides methods for implementing multi-user Quality of Service (QoS) over OFDMA using information such as transmission rates, signal and noise conditions Noun 1. noise conditions - the condition of being noisy (as in a communication channel)
condition, status - a state at a particular time; "a condition (or state) of disrepair"; "the current status of the arms negotiations"
 and traffic loading.

"Our scientists and engineers continue to build on our robust intellectual property rights portfolio that includes important wireless broadband patents," said ADAPTIX President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  Michael Pisterzi. "In the realm of OFDMA, which is emerging as the foundation of next generation mobile wireless broadband technologies, ADAPTIX has created substantial IPR IPR Intellectual Property Rights

over the past seven years. That IPR has been implemented in our products, including the award-winning BX-3000 Mobile WiMAX platform."

The BX-3000 series of mobile base stations was awarded the Best of WiMAX World Award for System Design in late 2006. Featuring the third-generation OFDMA engine from ADAPTIX, the BX-3000 is based on a software-defined radio (SDR See software defined radio. ) architecture. Using this approach, ADAPTIX has created a family of mobile broadband wireless products that combine performance, flexibility and serviceability, all of which are key elements in pushing OFDMA technology forward and increasing its desirability among service providers.

Copies of the ADAPTIX U.S. Patent No. 7,164,669 may be obtained via the USPTO website (www.uspto.gov). ADAPTIX also works with numerous international patent agencies for intellectual property protection of this invention and others throughout the world.

About ADAPTIX

To meet the growing demand for high-bandwidth, integrated mobile voice, video and data applications, ADAPTIX delivers software-defined, hardware-enabled infrastructure platforms for wireless and wireline service providers around the world. ADAPTIX's standards-based Mobile WiMAX/OFDMA solution is not dependent on third party developed silicon or software and gives service providers the highest level of spectral and resource flexibility as well as the efficiency to deploy media-rich applications quickly and cost effectively. ADAPTIX, one of the earliest developers of OFDMA and Mobile WiMAX technology, is headquartered in Dallas, Texas, with additional offices in Seattle, Washington, and Shanghai, China.
