ADAC achieves record bookings in fourth quarter.MILPITAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 2, 1995--ADAC Laboratories (ADAC/NASDAQ) announced today that the Company expects to record approximately $64 million in bookings for the fourth quarter ending October 1, 1995. This compares favorably to $48 million booked in the prior year's fourth quarter. The record bookings are believed to be a result of continued market share increases and include approximately $4 million attributed to business from the recent Community Health Computing (CHC) acquisition and $6 million of annual cyclical business from the Veterans Administration. Nuclear medicine equipment bookings, anticipated to be approximately $45 million, will be the highest in the Company's history and compares to $32 million for this division in the previous fourth quarter. David L. Lowe, Chief Executive Officer, stated, "A major factor for the bookings increase is the exceptional market interest in Molecular Coincidence Detection (MCD). This breakthrough technology is designed to enable ADAC's dual-head nuclear imaging systems to perform both single photon emission computed tomography SPECT (SPECT) and coincidence imaging using the same nuclear gamma camera. Tomographic imaging of local metabolic and physiological functions in tissues. The image is formed by a computer synthesis of data that is transmitted by single gamma photons emitted by radionuclides administered to the patient. "This significant advantage is expected to offer healthcare providers the opportunity to meet the demands for improved diagnostic imaging and decreased overall patient care costs. Even though MCD is not currently available for sale, we believe bookings have been favorably strengthened on the basis of a simple field upgrade path for our existing dual-head cameras." Fourth quarter revenues are expected to be in the range of $50 to $51 million and include a contribution of between $3 to $4 million from CHC. The prior year's fourth quarter revenues were $42 million. Earnings per share are expected to be approximately 16 cents, which include the dilutive impact of the CHC acquisition of between 3 to 4 cents per share. The Company expects to report complete financial information for the fourth quarter and the fiscal year in early November. ADAC Laboratories is the world market share leader in nuclear medicine and a leading supplier of radiology and laboratory information systems in North America. For the second consecutive year, ADAC has received a site visit for the prestigious Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. The Company headquarters is in Milpitas, California.
