ADAC Introduces Open Gantry Gamma Camera and Next Generation Vertex At RSNA; FORTE Open Gantry and Next Generation Vertex Strengthen ADAC's Leading Gamma Camera Product Line.

CHICAGO--(BW HealthWire)--Nov. 29, 1998--At the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) meeting today, ADAC Laboratories (NASDAQ:ADAC) announced the introduction of two additions to its family of variable angle gamma cameras, the FORTE(TM) open gantry camera and the Vertex(TM) V60.

The FORTE dual head variable angle camera is the result of breakthrough design that combines true openness with advanced technology and system stability. Its unique FreeDOME(TM) gantry greatly expands clinical versatility by enabling a fuller range of image acquisition including patients on hospital beds, gurneys and wheel chairs without obstruction from detector arms or gantry feet. The new system also features ColliMATE(TM), the fastest and easiest automatic exchanger available today that can contribute to significant productivity improvements for the user, and the Pegasys(TM) Ultra 60(TM) computer, which incorporates the latest computer technology from SUN Microsystems and provides a two-fold increase in processing speed and power over previous generations. FORTE is also fully compatible with advanced imaging technologies such as MCD(TM) coincidence detection for positron emission tomography (PET) imaging. FORTE offers significant improvements in patient comfort for all imaging positions, as well as increased department productivity, greater ease of use and expanded applications.

In addition to FORTE, ADAC introduced the next generation of its popular Vertex dual ring gantry camera, the Vertex V60. This new variable angle imaging system includes the next generation EPIC-HP digital detectors for high quality imaging as well as the SUN Ultra 60 computer. The Vertex V60 also offers state of the art imaging options such as MCD/AC(TM) for PET imaging and Vantage(TM) attenuation correction for artifact reduction and better image quality. The Vertex V60 will take image quality and speed one step further, which will enhance imaging productivity.
