ADAC HealthCare Information Systems to Provide Envoi Image Management Solution to the University of Chicago Hospitals.

MILPITAS, Calif.--(BW HealthWire)--March 16, 1999--ADAC HealthCare Information Systems (HCIS), a division of ADAC Laboratories (Nasdaq:ADAC), today announced that it has signed a contract to provide its Envoi(TM) Information and Image Management Solutions Intranet Image Server to the University of Chicago Hospitals, Chicago, Illinois.

Envoi is ADAC's integrated Information and Image Management Solution, which includes QuadRIS(TM), Physician's Desktop(TM) and the Intranet Image Server. The University of Chicago Hospitals signed an agreement in November 1998 for QuadRIS and the Physician Desktop.

The addition of the Intranet Image Server will provide The University of Chicago Hospitals the necessary tools to realize greater cost savings, promote complete integration of imaging within their enterprise and expand their use of filmless digital imaging over the next several years.

Building on the power of the Web, the Envoi Intranet Image Server delivers an integrated information and image management solution that provides real-time access to images and reports for radiologists, referring physicians, and emergency room, intensive care and cardiac care unit technologists.

Industry standards such as DICOM and Internet protocols are used to cost-effectively manage the need to view images and reports throughout the enterprise.

ADAC's client-server-based QuadRIS system is installed at 45 customer sites and is being installed at an additional 40 clients. QuadRIS, with advanced technology and proven clinical functionality, assists radiology departments in managing their information more efficiently and effectively, thereby increasing productivity and service while reducing costs.

ADAC's open clinical architecture combines Oracle's(TM) relational database technology with Microsoft Windows(TM) client/server software to deliver radiology information not just within the radiology department, but throughout the healthcare delivery network.

Physician Desktop, with integrated voice recognition, enables radiologists to review patient examination history and previous reports, as well as verify and sign-off on reports. It also includes a digital dictation module for reports and voice-recognized transcription.
