NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 3, 1996--Under a new agreement, the ADA Electronic Commerce Co., a subsidiary of the American Dental Association, has selected ENVOY Corporation, the nation's leading processor of electronic dental claims, as its endorsed electronic clearinghouse.

Known in the marketplace as ENVOY-NEIC since ENVOY's early 1996 acquisition of NEIC, Nashville-based ENVOY is one of the nation's largest healthcare EDI networks processing more than 600 million electronic healthcare claims yearly. ENVOY-NEIC handles five times more electronic dental claims than anyone else in the industry.

The filing of electronic claims frees dentists and administrators from the burdens and risks of submitting paper claims. Modern EDI systems assemble the transaction, validate patient and dentist information and speed the claims on their way. Without paper, postage is eliminated and the risk of loss and delays in the mail are eliminated. Since claims are checked for accuracy and completeness before they are received by the hundreds of payers now connected electronically, inquiries and rejections are minimized. Using a computer, a modem and ordinary phone lines, claims are delivered electronically to ENVOY-NEIC and then on to the appropriate payer in their selected format.
