The event, themed "Get Real on Water!" is expected to draw more than 2,000 local water officials as well as state and federal water leaders. The conference officially begins on Tuesday, May 9 with a seminar, "The Endangered Species Act The federal Endangered Species Act of 1973 (ESA) (16 U.S.C.A. §§ 1531 et seq.) was enacted to protect animal and plant species from extinction by preserving the ecosystems in which they survive and by providing programs for their conservation. : Where Are We Headed?" that will discuss the implications of all aspects of the ESA 1. (architecture) ESA - Enterprise Systems Architecture. 2. (body) ESA - European Space Agency. , and its impact on California's water. Kicking off the Wednesday, May 10 program is an address by Huell Howser, host of the popular new PBS PBS in full Public Broadcasting Service Private, nonprofit U.S. corporation of public television stations. PBS provides its member stations, which are supported by public funds and private contributions rather than by commercials, with educational, cultural, series "California's Water," as well as the long running series "California's Gold" and other human-interest programs. Two issue forums are scheduled, including "Perspectives and Lessons Learned on the Big One: The Floods of 1986," moderated by Pulitzer Prize winning Sacramento Bee Associate Editor Tom Philp, and "Delta Vision, the Governor and His Federal Partners," with panelists including Jason Peltier, deputy assistant secretary for water and science, U.S. Department of Interior; Brigadier General Joseph Schroedel, commander and division engineer, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; and Lester Snow, director, California Department of Water Resources History 1850-1875 California recognizes many types of water rights. These rights have developed with the State over time. Prior to the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, signed in 1848, California was part of Mexico. . A Look at SB 1612 -- The Clean Drinking Water drinking water supply of water available to animals for drinking supplied via nipples, in troughs, dams, ponds and larger natural water sources; an insufficient supply leads to dehydration; it can be the source of infection, e.g. leptospirosis, salmonellosis, or of poisoning, e.g. , Water Supply Security, and Environmental Improvement Bond Act of 2006."
