``We're providing the greater region with quality arts and we're drawing an audience from Santa Barbara to Pasadena and Malibu to Valencia,'' Jones said. ``A lot of people don't like to drive into Los Angeles.''

Seymour and her husband, James Keach, who live in Malibu, are among those to receive awards. The couple are honorary chairmen of a program to bus underprivileged students from the Oxnard and Port Hueneme area to see performances at the arts center. About 5,000 children a year come to the arts center through the program, Jones said.

Seymour and Keach also have lent their names and photographs to help the center's fund-raising efforts.

The biotech company Amgen will also be recognized for its initial $250,000 gift in the center's first year, as well as its subsequent donations, Jones said.

``We're very proud of the fact we're going into our ninth season with our operating balance in budget and we're celebrating the fact that the theater is booked for the coming year,'' Jones said.

The arts plaza features about 400 performance a year in its two theaters. The center draws more than 250,000 audience members annually in addition to 50,000 children who attend daytime education programs. The arts center also features a distinguished speakers series.

Hosting the ceremony will be Jane Velez-Mitchell, who stars on the television show ``Celebrity Justice.''
