The recommendations were explained during a Monday night meeting attended by about 60 people. The ultimate decision on where a park could be located and when it would be built is up to county officials. At the meeting at the Acton Community Club, about 20 people said building a park would destroy the rural setting that attracted them to the area, and bring in crime and unwelcome visitors. ``They're worried about undesirable people coming into their community,'' said Howald. ``There's been some concerns from the beginning.'' ``Some residents just don't want a park site,'' said Jim McCarthy, park project coordinator for the county's Fifth District. ``They don't want to lose the rural nature of their community.'' Howald, who also serves as Acton Town Council vice president, said the community needs a park. ``Our kids don't have anything else,'' she said. County officials said they will take the park critics' views into consideration. ``I want to include what the entire community wants with the exception of complete exclusion of building a park,'' said McCarthy. ``Maybe we need to look at alternatives such as a nature park.''
