ACTON CORPORATION ANNOUNCES CORPORATE NAME CHANGE

RALEIGH, N.C., Jan. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Acton Corporation (AMEX: ATN), $3.75 Cumulative Preferred Stock (ATNPR) (now Sunstates Corporation) today announced the change of its name to Sunstates Corporation effective Jan. 1, 1994. Acton Corporation was the result of the merger in 1988 of the former Sunstates Corporation, a real estate and insurance conglomerate, with Acton Corporation, an owner and operator of cable television systems. The merger was accounted for as a reverse acquisition: the surviving legal entity having the name and corporate attributes of Acton Corporation but the financial accounting and tax attributes of Sunstates Corporation. With the culmination on Dec. 30, 1993, of the sale of the last cable system, none of the assets of the former cable television operation remain. Accordingly, management recommended and its shareholders approved to change the name of the surviving entity to Sunstates Corporation since the name Acton Corporation was associated with its cable operations.
This represents a name change only and does not effect the securities of Acton Corporation (now Sunstates Corporation) which will continue to be listed on the American Stock Exchange with the symbols, ATN and ATNPR.
Sunstates Corporation is primarily engaged in specialized automobile insurance underwriting, manufacturing, and real estate development.
