4 Sherman Oaks Castle Park, 4989 Sepulveda Blvd., Sherman Oaks. Not every castle boasts a golf course, but this miniature castle lays claim to three 18-hole miniature courses, in addition to batting cages and an arcade. The medieval site also includes eateries and spots for private parties. Open 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to midnight Friday, 9 a.m. to midnight Saturday, 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday. (818) 756-9459. www.shermanoakscastle.com.

5 Lake Balboa at Anthony C. Beilenson Anthony Charles Beilenson (born October 26, 1932) was a Democratic congressman from Southern California, who served in the United States House of Representatives from 1977 to 1997.

Beilenson was born in New Rochelle, New York and grew up in wealthy suburban New York City.
 Park, 6300 Balboa Blvd., Van Nuys. This 27-acre recreational lake is good for fishing and kayaking Kayaking is the use of a kayak for moving across water. Kayaking is differentiated from canoeing by the fact that a kayak has a closed cockpit and a canoe has an open cockpit. They also use a two bladed paddle. Another major difference is in the way the paddler sits in the boat. , and even pedal boating. Park amenities include picnic tables, barbecue pits and a 1.3-mile trail for bikers and joggers. 6 Clay Club, 20929 Ventura Blvd., Woodland Hills. Like to make a mess? Get something out of it at this ceramic studio, where you can paint your own pottery and have it fired and glazed for you. Pick up your masterpiece or have it shipped to you. Clay Club also hosts parties and offers ceramics classes. Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Sunday; open till 9 p.m. Thursdays. 7 Creative Leap, 19300 Rinaldi St., Northridge. Corridors of mazes and slides let kids jump, play and explore in a safe, fun environment. Premises also include a rock-climbing wall, keyboards for playing music, and even an adult area for parents to kick back and have coffee. Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
