ACTION PRODUCTS INTERNATIONAL INC. EARNINGS UP 61 PERCENT

 OCALA, Fla., July 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Action Products International, Inc. (NASDAQ: APII) is a major manufacturer and importer of educational gift items specializing in the museum, zoo, aquarium and attractions market. The company manufactures all natural Space and Nature Action Snacks(TM). In 1993, APII introduced ready to eat, freeze-dried cheese pizza. APII publishes its own line of children's books and supplies custom promotional products. The company sells to all 50 states and exports to 16 different countries.

 "Increased earnings are due to a shift from serving as a distributor to manufacturing and importing our own brand name products. Increased earnings are also attributed to management's focus on profitability and cost control. Sales declines are mainly attributed to closing our custom offices in Atlanta, Ga. and Raleigh, N.C. Export sales remain firm despite the strong dollar," stated Kaplan, CEO.
 APII received a licensee agreement from Backyard Monsters(R), an exhibit of giant mechanical robot insects. The Backyard Monsters(R) exhibit moves across the country every three months from museum to museum and is fully booked until 1995.
 APII donated cased of Nature Action Snacks(TM) to aid in the relief of the flood victims in the midwest. The snacks need no cooking or refrigeration, last seven years without spoilage or loss of nutritional value. In July the company started shipping Action Snacks(TM) in its award winning, space-packaging. This packaging won an ADDY Award for "Creative Excellence in Advertising." There are currently 22 different Action Snacks(TM) products available.
