Cultural Arts/Theatre manager Dea McAllister, in knee breeches and vest, wielded her sword as a pointer. ``This new season is full of fun, high-energy shows that give audiences a sense of adventure,'' said Ledford, whose parrot failed to stay upright on his shoulder as he talked. ``We wanted to present that energy and attitude today.'' On Oct. 8, the Antelope Valley Cultural Foundation honors former Palmdale Councilman Joe Davis during a revue of music and dance from the 1900s to the 1990s. Proceeds will benefit the Playhouse. On Nov. 18, the Playhouse will offer ``A Victorian Holiday,'' which will benefit South Antelope Valley Emergency Services emergency services Emergency care '…services …necessary to prevent death or serious impairment of health and, because of the danger to life or health, require the use of the most accessible hospital available and equipped to furnish those services' and the Playhouse's youth and community programs. Theater troupe Will & Company will perform ``The Christmas Carol - An Evening with Dickens'' and the Playhouse staff will serve an English dinner with dessert at intermission. The Palmdale City Players will present ``The Christmas Schooner'' Dec. 1-3 and Dec. 8-10, a musical about a Michigan man in the 1890s who brings Christmas trees to homesick German-American families. The City Players will present the musical ``1776'' March 16-18 and 23-25. The fifth annual Shakespeare Festival April 19-22 will include performances of ``A Midsummer's Night Dream'' and a matinee adaptation of ``Much Ado About Nothing'' by Will & Company. Will & Company also will perform ``Not Without Right,'' an account of Shakespeare's life. Madrigal madrigal, name for two different forms of Italian music, one related to the poetic madrigal in the 14th cent., the other the most common form of secular vocal music in the 16th cent. singers, jugglers and sonnet readers will be on hand to entertain audiences throughout the festival. The Playhouse's Musical Celebrations series will present the Gospel Hummingbirds on Jan. 15 in connection with Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Local salsa and jazz group Boulevard Knights will perform on Feb. 3. On May 13, the Side Street Strutters will present a concert of jazz and swing in time for Mother's Day. The Children and Family series includes the return of Nels Lund and his Peanut Butter Cookies Band in ``Time for Christmas with Nels'' on Dec. 4. Glenn Yarborough yar·bor·ough n.
