ACTE Election Results.

Kathy Jo Elliott Wins President-Elect Post

Kathy Jo Elliott, Tech Prep/School-to-Work Coordinator at West Central Technical College in Georgia, was elected in the annual mail balloting to the office of president-elect of the Association for Career and Technical Education. She will preside as president during 2002-03. She served as a member of the ACTE Board of Directors and vice president of the association's Guidance Division from 1997-2000.

Elliott received 2,260 votes, approximately 46% of the 4,954 ballots cast for the president-elect post. Challengers Thomas N. Applegate, Executive Dean at Austin (TX) Community College, and Mark L. Johnson, Associate Professor of Technical Education at Pittsburg (KS) State University, received 1,365 and 1,329 votes, respectively.

Voters also elected a vice president for the New and Related Services Division, a president-elect for the Trade and Industrial Division, as well as vice presidents for Regions I and III and a vice president-elect for Region IV (see winners below).

Elliott has been a career and technical instructor, counselor and administrator for more than 25 years. Prior to joining West Central Technical College in 1999, she served in tech prep, adult education and business education instruction and counseling positions at Green Country Technology Center, Central Tech, Bristow High School, Francis Tuttle Technology Center and Northeast High School. During her term on the ACTE Board, Elliott served on the Editorial and Publications, Finance and Organization and Professional Development and Marketing subcommittees. She also has served on the Guidance Division Policy Board and the Region IV Awards Committee. She was named Region IV Guidance Educator of the Year in 1992.
