ACS Signs Contract for Real-Time Passenger Information System with San Mateo County Transit.

DALLAS -- Affiliated Computer Services, Inc. (NYSE: ACS) has been selected by San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans) to install a Predictive Bus Arrival / Departure System (PADS) system to provide real-time bus arrival/departure information to their customers via the Web, telephone systems, and on dynamic message signs at major SamTrans terminals.

Utilizing Global Positioning System (commonly referred to as GPS) reports from SamTrans buses, the new system will provide riders with updated and real-time schedule information increasing their overall experience. Bus arrival and departure information will be delivered to message signs located at the Daly City, Millbrae and Colma Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) Stations along with the Redwood City and Palo Alto Caltrain Stations.

"The PADS project is a key component of SamTrans' drive to continually improve the quality of service that we offer to our passengers," said Robert Tam, manager of Technology and Research and Development at San Mateo County Transit District.

"Working with ACS, the PADS project will allow SamTrans to improve our riders' experience by providing our customers with more means of accessing real-time, dynamic service information."

Specific signs will be equipped with an Americans with Disabilities Act compliant audio component allowing passengers with disabilities to hear what is being displayed on the sign intermittingly. The PADS system will also be integrated into the San Francisco Bay Area 511 traveler information system, allowing people to obtain travel information from their home, business or cellular phone.
