ACME ELECTRIC ANNOUNCES MANAGEMENT CHANGES
    EAST AURORA, N.Y., Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Acme Electric Corporation (NYSE: ACE), a leader in the design and manufacture of power conversion equipment for electronic and electrical systems, today announced the election of G. Wayne Hawk as chairman of the board and Robert J. McKenna as president and chief operating office, effective Sept. 21, 1992.
    Hawk has served as president since January 1986 and will continue as chief executive officer.  He replaces James W. McLaughlin, who has resigned as chairman.  McLaughlin, who retired from active service with the company in December 1989, will continue to serve as a director.
    McKenna was employed since 1978 by Aeroquip Corporation, a $1 billion worldwide producer of industrial, aerospace and automotive products located in Maumee, Ohio.  Since 1990, he served as group vice president of the Diversified Products Group at Aeroquip, where he oversaw three operating divisions which employed 800 people at seven manufacturing locations with annual sales of $65 million.  McKenna holds a BS degree in business management from Western Kentucky University.
    McKenna resides in the Toledo, Ohio, area with his wife and three children and plans to relocate to the East Aurora, N.Y., area in the near future.
