ACLU plans appeal of Neb. graduation prayer case. (AU Bulletin).


The American Civil Liberties Union American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), nonpartisan organization devoted to the preservation and extension of the basic rights set forth in the U.S. Constitution.  of Nebraska plans to appeal a federal court ruling dismissing a challenge to prayer during a public school graduation ceremony in Norfolk, Neb.

Acting on behalf of an anonymous plaintiff, the ACLU ACLU: see American Civil Liberties Union.  sued the school district earlier this year over its policy of allowing student-led prayers during graduation. The board discontinued the policy but then invited board member Jim Scheer to speak during the ceremony. During his remarks, Scheer led the crowd in recitation rec·i·ta·tion

The ACLU contends that the board invited Scheer knowing he would pray out loud. But U.S. District Judge Laurie Smith Laurie Smith (b.1957) was an American pornographic actress and model.She was active in porn from 1979-1992. Laurie was best known for her wispy brown hair,naturally curvy figure, sweet and soft voice,and girl next door personality.  Camp disagreed, ruling that school officials had no way of knowing beforehand what Scheer would say.
