The lapse of twenty years raises a presumption of certain facts, and after such a time, the party against whom the presumption has been raised, will be required to prove a negative to establish his rights. 2. and many conflicting appeals courts decisions, we're pleased that the Supreme Court has agreed to hear cases involving the public display of the Ten Commandments. It is clear that the Commandments have played a vital role in the formation of western law. They are very important from a historical standpoint and are also widely displayed throughout our country - including the very chamber where the Supreme Court will hear this case. We are hopeful that the high court will move to protect the constitutionality of these displays." The Supreme Court today agreed to hear two Ten Commandments cases - one out of Texas and the other out of Kentucky. The high court has yet to decide what will happen to several other Commandments cases now pending before the Supreme Court - including a case brought by the ACLJ out of Adams County, Ohio Adams County is a county located in the state of Ohio, United States. It is named after John Adams, the second President of the United States.[2] Its county seat is West Union. involving the public displays of Commandments outside public high schools. An order is expected in the coming weeks concerning the Ohio case. The Supreme Court last considered a Ten Commandments case in 1980 and in recent years there have been conflicting decisions issued by federal appeals courts concerning the constitutionality of such displays. The American Center for Law and Justice is involved in nearly 20 cases involving a challenge to longstanding displays of the Ten Commandments throughout the country.
