ACLJ Forms Election Law Compliance Team to Ensure Presidential Election Complies With U.S. Constitution.

WASHINGTON -- The American Center for Law and Justice, specializing in constitutional law, announced today it has formed an Election Law Compliance Team to ensure that the presidential election complies with the U.S. Constitution.

"As the nation prepares for a Presidential election that may be determined by litigation, we are poised to ensure that election results and the outcome of the Presidential race comply with the Constitution," said Jay Sekulow, Chief Counsel of the ACLJ, which has been involved in election litigation in the past. "We want to make sure that every vote that is properly cast is properly counted. It is our hope that the election will provide a clear winner in the Presidential contest. If that does not happen, however, we stand ready to engage the legal issues to ensure the outcome complies with the Constitution."

The ACLJ filed critical briefs with the Supreme Court four years ago in support of a constitutional resolution to that Presidential contest. The ACLJ was also successful in getting a portion of the campaign finance law struck as unconstitutional last term. In a unanimous decision, the Supreme Court said a portion of the law that prevented minors from making contributions to political campaigns was unconstitutional.
