of POWs not only represents a violation of the Geneva Convention, but clearly demands that those offenders be treated as war criminals."

The ACLJ today sent a letter to U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan and members of the U.N. Security Council urging the U.N. to ensure that Iraq abide by the terms of the Geneva Convention. It appears that Iraq already has violated the convention by placing the U.S. POWs on television. Article 13 states that "prisoners of war at all times must be protected, particularly against acts of violence or intimidation and against insults and public curiosity."
