WASHINGTON -- The American Center The American Center is a high-rise tower in Southfield, Michigan. It was built in 1975 and stands at 26 floors, with one basement floor, for a total of 27.

The building's main use is that of a typical office tower. It also includes a parking garage and retail spaces.

It is also one of the most powerful committees in Congress; among its wide range of jurisdictions is investigation of federal judicial nominees and oversight of  for Supreme Court nominee Judge Samuel Alito Samuel Anthony Alito, Jr. (born April 1, 1950) is an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. Educated at Princeton University and Yale Law School, Alito served as a United States attorney and a judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit  should proceed without delay toward a scheduled vote before the full Senate set for January 20.

"It's time It's Time was a successful political campaign run by the Australian Labor Party (ALP) under Gough Whitlam at the 1972 election in Australia. Campaigning on the perceived need for change after 23 years of conservative (Liberal Party of Australia) government, Labor put forward a  for the Senate to put aside the political posturing and move swiftly and without delay in confirmation hearings for Judge Samuel Alito," said Jay Sekulow, Chief Counsel of the ACLJ, who is working to support the Judge Alito nomination. "There has been ample time to review Judge Alito's legal work including his 15 years of service on a federal appeals court. Any move to extend the hearings and delay a confirmation vote before the full Senate beyond January 20 is not only unfair to Judge Alito, but it's the kind of political foot-dragging that does not serve the American people An American people may be:

or the Supreme Court well. Judge Alito is extremely well qualified and his record exemplifies a philosophy of judicial restraint and a dedication to upholding the Constitution, not re-writing it. The confirmation process must proceed on schedule giving Judge Alito a prompt up-or-down vote on the Senate floor."

Sekulow added: "While the confirmation hearings serve an important purpose in examining the record and judicial philosophy of Judge Alito, the hearings should not be used as a platform to launch personal attacks. The American people don't want these hearings to become a partisan battleground. Judge Alito is a nominee who understands the role of the federal judiciary and embraces the kind of conservative judicial philosophy that will serve the nation well. We urge the Senate to act without delay in this confirmation process and remain convinced that Judge Alito ultimately will be confirmed as an Associate Justice on the Supreme Court of the United States Supreme Court of the United States

Sekulow says the ACLJ is launching an aggressive media campaign supporting the nomination of Judge Alito - a campaign that includes a national petition urging Senators to confirm Judge Alito, radio ads, and e-mails that will be sent to nearly one million Americans.
