The University of Oregon is one of 60 members of the Association of American Universities.  to enable Geriann Walker, a Cottage Grove High School Cottage Grove High School is a public high school located in Cottage Grove, Oregon. It has a newer school building, opened in 2003 to replace the old high school building that was built in 1939 and held its first classes in 1940.  science teacher, to conduct research with the UO's Dr. Heiner Linke over the next two summers. The title of the research will be "Self-Propelled Film-Boiling Liquids." The award includes funds to attend two national Partners in Science conferences, where Walker will share the results of the research.

The grant was awarded through a competitive process. The trust accepts applications from high school teachers and mentors from a five-state region. The primary goal is to provide teachers a chance to work on cutting-edge science, and thus to revitalize their teaching and help them appreciate the use of inquiry-based teaching methods.

The selection is based on the qualifications of the partner members, the quality of the research proposed and the potential of its impact on the high school setting.

Springfield High seniors grace cover of magazine

 students were featured on the cover of the April 24 issue of SCOPE magazine, a national literary magazine for teens published by Scholastic Inc.

Seniors Brandon Hudson and Jennifer Cunningham, both recently honored as Hult Center Performing Arts Students of the Month, are shown in the theater department's recent production of Shakespeare's "Othello."

The cover relates to a story about staging class productions of Shakespeare.

Willamette, Yoncalla

culinary teams take honors

The culinary arts team from Willamette High School Willamette High School is a school in Eugene, Oregon.

Willamette, or "Wil-Hi," is located in the Bethel-Danebo area of west Eugene, and is the only high school in the Bethel School District.
 placed second in the Management Championship category at the Boyds Coffee Culinary Cup ProStart Student Championship, held April 8 at the Oregon Convention Center The Oregon Convention Center is a convention center in Portland, Oregon. It is located on the east side of the Willamette River in the Lloyd District neighborhood. The Oregon Convention Center is best known for the twin spire towers which provide light into the building's interior. .

The team's adviser, Martha Humphreys, was named Teacher of the Year and will travel to Chicago next month to be recognized at a national teacher luncheon.

The Western Culinary Institute is a cooking institute and member of Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts School located in downtown Portland, Oregon,
 Management Awards.

The school tied with three others for Best Solution and Most Professional, and took third place in the Knowledge Bowl.

ProStart is a two-year curriculum designed to teach students the management skills needed for a career in the restaurant and food service industry.

Students are mentored by industry managers in paid internships.

North Eugene High senior wins poetry award

Halley Underwood, a senior at North Eugene High School North Eugene High School is a public high school of about 1,200 students in Eugene, Oregon, United States. It is located at 200 Silver Lane near the Santa Clara area of Eugene.[1] North Eugene's mascot is the Highlander. , has won an honorable mention award in the eighth annual State Youth Poetry Contest, sponsored by the Oregon State Poetry Association. Her poem "The Blues Man" was one of 120 submissions in the grades nine through 12 category.

All winning poems will be published in the 2006 edition of "Cascadia: The Oregon Student Poetry Anthology."

Teams from Pleasant Hill take ImagiNation honors

The Pleasant Hill Junior High School Destination ImagiNation team took second place in the Back at You middle level competition at the southern Oregon This article is about the southern region of the U.S. state of Oregon. For the University, see Southern Oregon University.
Southern Oregon is a region of the U.S.
 tournament, held April 8 in Corvallis. The team is invited to go on to the Global Finals in Tennessee next month.

Also, the Pleasant Hill High School team took third in the How'd That Happen?, secondary level category. Destination ImagiNation is a creativity and problem-solving program in which students team up and create innovative solutions to various challenges.
