2 named to state Youth Advisory Team

Paige Greenley, a senior at South Eugene High School South Eugene High School is a public high school located in Eugene, Oregon, United States. It has a newer school building, opened in 2003 to replace the old high school building that was built in 1939 and held its first classes in 1940. , were selected to serve on State Schools Superintendent Susan Castillo's Youth Advisory Team, which meets four or five times a year to discuss education issues and offer recommendations. Castillo said she formed the group to give students a voice in decisions that affect them and to provide her with student perspective to aid in her policy discussions and decisions. The group includes students from all over Oregon, and will meet next in Salem on April 4.

International High boy wins film prize

Noah Temple, a sophomore in the International High School program at South Eugene High School, won the best picture award at the recent IHS film competition for "Legend of the Swordsman," a homage to the genre of Hong Kong martial arts films.

Student places first in geography bee

Roosevelt Middle School eighth-grader Sam Brandt, a two-time winner of the Oregon Geographic Bee, won first place in the Asian Geography Bee, held last month during the 20th annual Asian Celebration at the Lane County Fairgrounds. The first-, second- and third-place runners-up were all students from Jefferson Middle School Jefferson Middle School is a middle school located in Jefferson City, Tennessee. The middle school is home to the football team the Elks, which has won more conference champs than any other middle school in Tennessee. : Keith Repsher, Erika Peterson and Tony Soto.

Kiwanians pick 2 students of the month

Saul Lopez and Danielle Goins, both seniors at Cottage Grove High School, were selected Students of the Month for February by the Bohemia Sunrisers Kiwanis Club. Both students are members of the National Honor Society The National Honor Society (NHS), established in 1921, is a recognition program for American high school students who show achievement in scholarship, leadership, service, and character.  and are active in their schools and community.
