Melissa has assisted the Optimist Club by going door-to-door with her grandmother, member Cathy McCutcheon, to solicit food and toy donations for needy families at Christmas, operating a lemonade stand
Caitlin is the club's sergeant at arms SERGEANT AT ARMS, An officer appointed by a legislative body, whose duties are to enforce the orders given by such bodies, generally under the warrant of its presiding officer. and is responsible for collecting fines from members during meetings. She also hosted blind children when they stayed with her family during the Optimist Braille Olympics, and is always on hand as one of Santa's elves at Christmas time. Dakota became involved with the club when he assisted them with their annual toy and food drive by conducting a personal door-to-door collection of items for local needy families. Also in attendance was the ``Kids Speak Out Contest'' winner, 8-year-old Mariah McKenzie of Legacy Academy, who presented her award-winning speech titled ``Being the Best That I Can Be.''
