In addition to these requirements, the selection committee looks at the company's leadership, the strategy behind its growth, and its reputation in the general and business community. The company must be founded or headquartered in Colorado.

"This award is very meaningful to us. Our continued growth in a tough economy and with the level of competition we face says a great deal about our company, our people, our strategies and our culture. The award also goes to our outstanding leadership team who keep raising the bar and making us a better beer company," said Leo Leo, in astronomy

Their commitment to their communities, customers and employees is noteworthy as well. Their stories will inspire companies nationally to achieve growth against odds with attention to good financial strategy, market planning and relentless execution."

"Although the organic market has grown to an over $11 billion dollar industry(1), we knew it would take a lot more than good fortune and good timing to build a great company. New products, distribution and marketing strategies are important to grow revenue, but a willingness to invest in good people and sound operations is the key to our sustainable growth. The loyalty of our customers depends on this commitment as a company and of our people," said Chuck Marcy, CEO of Horizon Organic.
