She says, "As a mentor to our new university Branch, I clearly see the importance of cultivating our student members to help them gain and practice the leadership skills necessary to continue ACEI's commitment to future teachers and children." In her new position, Miller says she expects to "reach out to the membership to help them `promote the inherent rights, education, and well-being of all children in home, school, and community ...' by sharing ACEI's powerful mission statement as they network with other organizations, agencies, and educational programs related to children." It was founded in March 2006 by Nat Wei, a former founder of Teach First. in efforts to ensure excellence in the education of all students. In order to do this they will need to connect with organizations, such as ACEI, that promote the welfare of our diverse school population." Hunter feels her varied experiences as an elementary teacher, middle-level teacher, middle-level administrator, teacher educator, and parent have provided excellent preparation for this task. "My various experiences in working with issues relevant to middle childhood education on the local and state levels have also prepared me for having more of an influence on the international level." Hunter goes on to say, "I see the role of ACEI as one of providing the connection between educators, parents, students, and the community. By reaching out to all those connected to the `global community' of children, our organization's influence will have far-reaching effects on the future of all students." |
