ACE ROBINSON'S GOT A ROYALS APPOINTMENT; EIRCOM LEAGUE.

Byline: By PAUL O'HEHIR

DROGHEDA United's Shane Robinson Shane Robinson (born 17 December 1980 in Waterford) is an Irish football midfielder who currently plays for Drogheda United in the FAI Premier League. He is a right-sided midfield player with pace, tenacity and vision.  is training with Reading this week.

The midfielder is just one of a string of Drogheda players deperate to find employment elsewhere.

Last season's league champions are currently in examinership and players are receiving just 30 per cent of their pay.

But last week the players received no pay whatsoever and were informed via text message from the club.

Robinson is one of just eight players under contract at United Park but because the club has defaulted on wages he is technically now a free agent.

Robinson has offers on the table from clubs in Ireland, England, Scotland and Sweden.

But Reading boss Steve Coppell Stephen James Coppell (born 9 July 1955 in Norris Green, Liverpool) is the manager of Reading Football Club. As a player, he was a highly-regarded winger who won domestic honours with Manchester United and represented England at the World Cup before injury cut short his career.  is keen to have a look at the talented former Shamrock Rovers star and invited him to train for the week.

If a permanent deal materialised, Robinson would join a host of Irish players at the Madejski Stadium Overview
The stadium is the home of Reading Football Club and was opened on 22 August 1998 when Luton Town were beaten 3-0 with Grant Brebner having the honour of scoring the first goal at the stadium.
.

Kevin Doyle, Stephen Hunt, Noel Hunt, Shane Long and Dave Mooney are all on the books of the Royals.
