ACE's CoSy compiler compiler

Computer software that translates (compiles) source code written in a high-level language (e.g., C++) into a set of machine-language instructions that can be understood by a digital computer's CPU.

ACE Associated Compiler Experts bv today announced that TOPS Systems Corporation (Tokyo) utilized ACE's CoSy compiler development system in the development of a high-quality, high-performance compiler for its flexible task oriented o·ri·ent

TOPS' aggressive development schedule demanded a high quality technology to aid in the compiler development process. In addition, ACE provided its technical expertise to the development team. This significantly sped up the development, allowing TOPS to reach its target in time. Through its extensive use of generators, CoSy significantly reduces development time while increasing compiler consistency and quality of generated code. TOPS plans are to use the advanced DSP (1) (Digital Signal Processor) A special-purpose CPU used for digital signal processing applications (see definition #2 below). It provides ultra-fast instruction sequences, such as shift and add, and multiply and add, which are commonly used in math-intensive  support in CoSy DSP for next stage improvements in the compiler, taking full advantage of the application-oriented instruction enhancements in the TOPS architecture.

"Advanced architectures require advanced development tools to create sustainable products, but there isn't much available that we consider quality. We evaluated all the possible compiler solutions to see which would maximize the performance of our products. After careful consideration, we concluded that CoSy fulfilled ful·fill also ful·fil

Its open CoSy compiler development system gives compiler developers the ability to achieve a similar leading edge position in the construction of better and faster optimizing compilers A programming language compiler that enhances the performance and/or reduces the size of the resulting machine program. Optimizing compilers require multiple passes in order to analyze the entire program and maximize the reuse of code throughout. See compiler.  for architectures ranging from 4-bit DSPs to 256-bit VLIW (Very Long Instruction Word) A CPU architecture that reads a group of instructions and executes them at the same time. For example, the group (word) might contain four instructions, and the compiler ensures that those four instructions are not dependent on each  processors. CoSy also accommodates a wide range of programming languages including C, DSP-C, C++, Fortran and Java. Japan Novel is ACE's representative in Japan.
