ACE INA Appoints Paul O'Connell Chief Actuary.

PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 21, 2002

ACE INA today announced the appointment of Paul G. O'Connell to chief actuary. O'Connell will report to Susan Rivera, president of ACE INA Holdings, Inc.

Based in Philadelphia, O'Connell will have overall responsibility for all aspects of the actuarial function within the U.S. and Canadian operations of ACE INA.

"Paul brings a tremendous amount of experience in the financial and insurance industries that will significantly add to the strength of our senior management team," said Susan Rivera, president, ACE INA Holdings, Inc. "His considerable knowledge of the actuarial function and proven track record in achieving business results will be instrumental in helping us to achieve our strategic goals."

O'Connell has more than twenty-four years of experience in the property and casualty insurance industry, most recently with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) LLP, where he served as a principal and leader of the Actuarial & Insurance Management Solutions (AIMS) group.

Prior to that, he worked at Continental Insurance Company for more than 15 years in various actuarial management positions, including serving as vice president and deputy chief actuary. Additionally, Paul has worked at Crum & Forster Insurance as vice president and actuary.
