ACE Appoints Audrey Samers Global Ethics & Compliance Officer.

 -- The ACE Group of Companies announced today that it has appointed Audrey M. Samers Global Ethics & Compliance Officer, effective January 1, 2007.

Ms. Samers will be responsible for providing ethics and business practices guidance, educating the ACE organization on that guidance, and maintaining a global monitoring function to evaluate compliance. Her mandate will also include communication and training for business ethics business ethics, the study and evaluation of decision making by businesses according to moral concepts and judgments. Ethical questions range from practical, narrowly defined issues, such as a company's obligation to be honest with its customers, to broader social  and compliance-related matters across the organization.

Ms. Samers will report to Robert Cusumano, General Counsel of ACE Limited, on a day-to-day basis and will also report directly to Evan Greenberg, President & Chief Executive Officer of ACE Limited, and to the Audit Committee of the ACE Limited Board of Directors. She succeeds Kevin Rampe, who was recently named General Counsel for the Company's North American operations North American operation Surgical oncology Radical surgery of a 'frozen pelvis', consisting of radical en bloc resection of the uterus and urinary bladder. Prior to her current appointment, Ms. Samers served as Deputy Global Compliance Officer & Associate General Counsel, reporting to Mr. Cusumano and to Mr. Rampe.

Ms. Samers joined ACE in May 2006 from the New York State Insurance Department, where she had served as Deputy Superintendent Deputy Superintendent, or Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), was a rank used by police forces of the British Empire. In some territories it was called Deputy District Superintendent of Police (DDSP).  and General Counsel since June 2001. She joined that organization in May 1998 as Special Counsel to the Superintendent on Holocaust-related issues. Prior to joining the New York State Insurance Department, Ms. Samers worked for the law firm of Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver shrive
