ACDA to host National Convention in Oklahoma City.The American Choral Directors Association The American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), headquartered in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, is a non-profit organization with the stated purpose of promoting excellence in the field of choral music. Oklahoma City is the capital of the U.S. state of Oklahoma. The county seat of Oklahoma County, the city is the 30th largest city in the U.S. , March 4-7, 2009. More than 4,000 choral directors, industry representatives, choirs and observers are expected. Highlights are to include a city-wide concert premiering the commissioned composition Cenotaph cenotaph (Greek: “empty tomb”) Monument, sometimes in the form of a tomb, to a person buried elsewhere. Ancient Greek writings tell of many cenotaphs, none of which survives. Existing cenotaphs of this type are found in churches (e.g. for choir and orchestra by composer Dominick Argento, a peace event at the Oklahoma City National Memorial The Oklahoma City National Memorial is the largest memorial of its kind in the United States.
