ACCUSPLIT'S "Mr. Pedometer" to Appear at International Wellness Conferences.

PLEASANTON, Calif. -- W. Ron Sutton, CEO of stopwatch and pedometer manufacturer, ACCUSPLIT, Inc., of Pleasanton, Calif. and known as "Mr. Pedometer", will appear at two international wellness conferences this fall. October 18-20, his company will sponsor and exhibit at the The Cooper Institute's conference, Diversity in Physical Activity and Health: Measurement and Research Issues and Challenges, in Dallas, Texas. On November 9, he will be one of the principal speakers at Taiwan's First National Walking Day in Taipei. Appearing with him will be Dr. Yoshiro Hatano, who popularized the 10,000 Steps-a-Day approach to lifetime wellness.

The Cooper Institute event is one of a series of conferences, initiated in 1997, that relate to improving the public's health. The series is intended to bring together an international group of experts to focus on particular topics relating to physical activity. The conferences have led to highly referenced and influential journal publications and acclaim within both the academic and local communities. At the conference, Sutton will update researchers about the JW200 Step Sensor technology, which accurately measures step counts. JW200 is the benchmark against which all other pedometers are compared for accuracy.

In Taiwan, Mr. Sutton will appear as "Mr. Pedometer" and will speak in support of the country's "Walk 10,000 Steps to Stay Healthy" program. Since 2002, the Bureau of Health Promotion of Taiwan's Department of Health has been encouraging walking for good health. Chinese athlete, former secretary-general of Taiwan's track and field association, and member of the Olympic committee, Chi Cheng, has acted as advocate of the effort. Cheng, who won a bronze medal in track and field at the 1968 Olympic Games, has traveled to each Taiwanese province, extolling the benefits of walking and its positive effects on long-term health and wellness.
