ACCESSORIES TO THE CAUSE DRAW CELEBS.Byline: Barbara De Witt Fashion Editor Paula Abdul wore a quietly glittery statement for peace on the same day Secretary of State Colin Powell presented his case against Iraq before the United Nations. Now, we'd already heard about the new Love+Peace+Hope jewelry collection by Sherman Oaks artist Udi Behr, but it wasn't until Abdul wore it on ``American Idol'' that it got any press coverage. She likes the white and yellow gold and diamond-studded necklaces, bracelets and rings that look like hearts, peace signs and AIDS awareness ribbons so much that she's now wearing a different design for each episode. We mortals can buy it at Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills. Other celebs may make a statement on Oscar night with a dove pin inspired by Pablo Picasso's Dove of Peace. It was created by Henry Dumay in 18-karat gold and after stars such as Meryl Streep have worn it, the pin will be auctioned to benefit Global Vision for Peace, say committee chairmen Cliff Rothman and Xorin Balbes. Costume jewelry versions will be available in stores soon. Speaking of the Oscars, here are a few other details to look for during the red-carpet parade: One lucky starlet will get to wear an updated version of Dorothy's ruby slippers to the Academy Awards. The shoes have stiletto heels and real rubies and spun platinum, but designer Stuart Weitzman isn't commenting on how much they cost or who gets to wear them. But you can see his slippers and his new Oscar Collection of sexy shoes at his Rodeo Drive boutique. Local purse designer Timmy Woods has carved her initials on yet another wooden purse collection. She was the one who came up with the red-white- and-blue flag purses after 9-11, and now she's got an Oscar Collection designed for red-carpet viewing. According to her people, Nicole Kidman, Julianne Moore, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Renee Zellweger and Halle Berry could be part of the purse parade that will sparkle with Swarovski crystals.
