ACCESS DISNEY WIRELESS CONTENT VIA EZWEB INTERNET PLATFORM.

Walt Disney Internet Group The Walt Disney Internet Group (WDIG) oversees several websites owned by The Walt Disney Company and its subsidiaries. [1] The division's Disney Online unit operates disney.  and KDDI Corp. have entered a cooperative agreement to offer Disney Mobile Disney Mobile is a Mobile Virtual Network Operator in the United States which launched in June of 2006, and will cease operating on December 31, 2007. It operates on Sprint's CDMA network. Disney Mobile is owned by The Walt Disney Company, which had marketed to family subscribers.  wireless content over the "Disney-ez" site, accessible via KDDI's au and Tu-Ka EZweb wireless Internet platforms.

The agreement enables wireless subscribers to EZweb-compatible au and Tu-Ka cellular phone services in Japan to download images, ring-tone melodies, news and e-cards featuring their favorite Disney characters This is a currently incomplete list of Disney characters:

  • Baloo the bear
  • Belle
  • Benny the Cab
  • Black Pete
  • Boo (Mary) - Monsters Inc
  • Brer Bear
  • Brer Fox

. Disney-ez will also offer a Magic Point system that allows users of the site's services to accumulate points that can later be exchanged for original Disney-ez goods.

The new service, launched December 24, 2001 from Walt Disney Internet Group and KDDI, introduced even more Japanese mobile phone users to Disney branded wireless content, and follows previous agreements with NTT DoCoMo (NTT Mobile Communications Network, Inc., Japan) Founded in 1991, NTT DoCoMo is a spinoff of Japan's NTT (Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation) which provides wireless services, including cellular, paging, satellite and maritime and in-flight telephone services.  and J-Phone Group.

"We are very pleased to broaden our distribution in Japan and to bring Disney content to KDDI cellular phone users," said Mark Handler, executive vice president and managing director, International, Walt Disney Internet Group. "KDDI is a strong business partner and we look forward to leveraging their advanced technologies to debut new content services."

"The KDDI Group is delighted to be able to offer an exciting array of Disney-themed services to our growing number of mobile phone subscribers," said KDDI senior general manager, Ikuyoshi Inoue. "We are currently preparing to launch our third-generation (3G) high-speed mobile phone service next spring. Adding Disney-ez to our EZ website is another example of our commitment to enhancing the value of our services to our subscribers."
