ACC Extends Frame Relay Connectivity Options; MCI and AT&T added to list of service providers certifying ACC's Frame Relay implementation.

CUPERTINO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 21, 1995--Advanced Computer Communications Inc. (ACC See adaptive cruise control. ) today announced that they have completed compatibility testing Compatibility testing, part of software non-functional tests, is testing conducted on the application to evaluate the application's compatibility with the computing environment.  and are certified to be used on AT&T's InterSpan (sm) and MCI's Frame Relay services.

AT&T's compatibility tests were conducted by AT&T's Developmental Relations Group (DRG DRG,

The router is required at both ends and provides the protocol conversion between the internal network (LAN) and the external network (WAN). "The addition of AT&T's and MCI's Frame Relay services give our customers more connectivity options when building their value-based global networks," said Gary Krall, ACC's Vice President of Marketing. "These two service providers, when combined with ACC's second to none Frame Relay implementation provide ACC's customers with not only a high quality implementation but also one with a large quantity of options."

ACC has proven their leadership in the frame relay market by being awarded the earliest "correct-by-design" frame relay interface by British Telecommunications and by placing number one in the Telia Research frame relay tests. ACC's second-to-none Frame Relay implementation leads the industry in four critical areas:

Standards Compliance. ACC believes in strictly complying to all standards procedures including the Annex A and LMI LMI Labor Market Information
LMI Local Management Interface
LMI Logistics Management Institute
LMI Linear Matrix Inequality
LMI Legemiddelindustriforeningen (Norway)
LMI Low to Moderate Income
LMI Lender's Mortgage Insurance
 procedures.

Congestion The condition of a network when there is not enough bandwidth to support the current traffic load.

congestion - When the offered load of a data communication path exceeds the capacity.
Management. ACC's Frame Relay Congestion Management feature prioritizes traffic when congestion occurs on frame relay networks, guaranteeing bandwidth to mission-critical applications -- even during periods of severe congestion.

Network Performance - Compression. ACC offers the only standalone routers which support compression over Frame Relay.

Redundant Link Backup. With ACC's FR implementation, a failed DLCI (Data Link Connection Identifier) The number of a private or switched virtual circuit in a frame relay network. Located in the frame header, the DLCI field identifies which logical circuit the data travels over, and each DLCI has a committed information rate  is quickly detected and traffic is routed to backup circuit. This insures continued data transmission.

In a recent independent test, conducted by Opus One and published in the January 15, 1995 edition of Network Computing Magazine, ACC's frame relay implementation delivered superior performance in transmitting TCP/IP TCP/IP

data over its wide area links. ACC offers the only standalone bridge/routers on the market which support data compression over Frame Relay - adding further savings for the end user. As a result of this added functionality, ACC's LAN/WAN LAN/WAN Local Area Network/Wide Area Network  devices deliver more packets per dollar than any competing bridge/router solution.

In the independent series of tests, ACC had the highest scores of any standalone bridge/router when testing average latency - in both short and long tests, as well as overall router performance. Other areas in which ACC was cited as being superior to the 15 routers tested, which included competitive offerings from Cisco, 3Com and Bay Networks, were in congestion control management and ACC's exclusive Bandwidth Optimization software.
