ACA is represented at the 6th International Camping Congress.


Several ACA ACA - Application Control Architecture  national staff members attended the 6th International Camping Congress at LaTrobe Latrobe, industrial borough (1990 pop. 9,265), Westmoreland co., SW Pa., in the foothills of the Alleghenies; inc. 1854. Among its varied manufactures are foam rubber, asphalt, building materials, steel, and plastics, and Rolling Rock beer was brewed there from 1939  University in Victoria, Australia Australia (ôstrāl`yə), smallest continent, between the Indian and Pacific oceans. With the island state of Tasmania to the south, the continent makes up the Commonwealth of Australia, a federal parliamentary state (2005 est. pop. , on January January: see month.  5-10. ACA staff members joined 200 delegates from Australia and more than 300 overseas delegates from over twenty countries in a gathering designed to foster international peace and understanding through camping.

Peg Smith, executive director, and Marge Scanlin, executive officer of research and intellectual resources, led a presentation entitled en·ti·tle

, "The Path to Excellence: Good, Better, Best," which explored "the differences between what is good, what is better, and what is best for and about camp as seen through the eyes of youth, parents, colleagues, youth development professionals, and the society in which we live."

Peg and Maria Coleman, ACA national president, presented the session, "Dealing with the Media," answering the question: How will you perform when a journalist is asking you the hard questions?

Marge also presented the session, "What is the "Good" that Camp Gives? Preliminary Findings in Major USA Camp Study." Connie Coutellier, professional development director, and Cathy Scheder, manager of professional development, presented, "Preparing a Staff Training Program." Cathy also contributed two additional sessions: "Inservice Lifeguard Training for the Camp Waterfront" and "Prepariing a Staff Training Program.
