The larger islands, St. Association used tax-exempt financing to construct a new Anchorage office building that will provide the tribe with a modern headquarters as well as serve as a cultural center to preserve and maintain the Aleut peoples heritage. The Bond Buyer awarded the $17.9 million deal, issued by Aleutians East Borough, Alaska Aleutians East Borough (IPA pronunciation: [ə'luʃəns]) is a 2nd class borough located in the U.S. state of Alaska. The borough seat is Sand Point. As of the 2000 census the borough had a population of 2,697. as a conduit for the Association, as the winner in the small-issuer category for the Far West in the 2006 Deal of the Year Award. In another transaction, The Cherokee Nation issued its Health Care System Bonds, Series 2006 in the amount of $30.0 million. The bonds were sold to finance the construction of two medical clinics for tribal members in Oklahoma.
