ABSENTEE DEADLINE QUICKLY APPROACHING.

The deadline for Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  County voters to request an absentee One who has left, either temporarily or permanently, his or her domicile or usual place of residence or business. A person beyond the geographical borders of a state who has not authorized an agent to represent him or her in legal proceedings that may be commenced against him or her  ballot for the March 7 elections is Feb. 29.

Registered voters can request absentee ballots in one of three ways:

--By filling out the ``Vote By Mail Application'' on the back cover of the sample ballot booklet sent to each registered voter VOTER. One entitled to a vote; an elector. .

--By sending a letter to the county Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk, Absent Voter Section at PO Box 30450, Los Angeles, CA 90030-0450.

--In person at the registrar's office in Norwalk Norwalk (nôr`wôk').

Absentee ballots cannot be requested by phone, due to a required signature that validates the request.

Voters with special circumstances special circumstances n. in criminal cases, particularly homicides, actions of the accused or the situation under which the crime was committed for which state statutes allow or require imposition of a more severe punishment.  can request emergency absentee ballots beginning March 1 through Election Day, by calling the registrar's Absent Voter Section at (562) 466-1323.

Those requiring assistance in another language can call (800) 481-8683.

Voters are reminded that if they have not received a ballot one week after sending in an application, they should call the registrar's office at (800) 815-2666.

Ballots must be received by the registrar's office or taken to a polling place by March 7.
