ABO executive director to retire after 20 years.A major force in New York's real estate industry, Herbert Warshavsky has, for more than 20 years, served as executive director of the Associated Builders and Owners of Greater New York (ABO ABO See: Accumulated Benefit Obligation ). Under his guidance, he has brought ABO to its present power position; membership has grown and, most importantly, the affiliation of ABO with other prominent industry organizations assures that members are kept apprised of relevant and related current events. Warshavsky has forged important links by serving, among other activities, as liaison to National Association of Home Builders The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) is one of the largest trade associations in the United States. Headquartered in Washington, DC, the association organizes one of the largest conventions in North America, The International Builders' Show, which draws more than (NAHB NAHB National Association of Home Builders NAHB National Academy of Health and Business (Canada) ) and the NAHB Multifamily Council; New York Housing Conference; National Housing Conference; National Assisted Housing Management Association; Fannie Mae New York Partnership and the Registered in Apartment Management (RAM) program, of which there are now four RAM on-going schools. It was also with his guidance that Buildings New York, the ABO-sponsored trade show, has grown into the largest business event for the buildings industry in the New York Metropolitan area New York–Northern New Jersey–Long Island is the most populous metropolitan area in the United States and the third most populous in the world, after Tokyo and Mexico City. . An expert lobbyist, legislative issues have always been a primary concern to Warshavsky, and as a result, he has continuously led delegations of ABO members to meet with congressional leaders and other governmental officials in appropriately-related governmental departments including the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), New York State Department of Housing and Community Penewat (DH-CR) and the New York City New York City: see New York, city.
