network deployment is the latest addition to a history of ABL success in Spain and with the Telefonica group of companies worldwide

ABL Canada Inc. (ABL) today announced that it had successfully installed a regional broadcast network with Telefonica Spain for RTVA, Andalucia's television company. The network interconnects ten cities in the Spanish province of Andalucia and provides bi- directional contribution links at 34 Mbps between RTVA's studio.

The network is built around ABL's widely deployed VT34 Orion broadcast quality codec (1) (enCOder/DECoder) A hardware circuit that performs analog-to-digital conversion (ADC) and digital-to-analog (DAC) conversion. When analog signals are entered into a computer, cellphone or other device via a microphone or video source such as VHS tape or analog TV,  capable of transmitting either PAL or NTSC (National TV Standards Committee) The committee that developed the television standards for the U.S, which are also used in Canada, Japan, South Korea and several Central and South American countries. Both the committee and the standard are called "NTSC.  signals. In this installation, the Orion are passing video and two audio channels as well as teletext teletext: see videotex.

The entire network optimizes bandwidth utilization and scheduling through ABL's SW1616 Trident broadband video switch, which is capable of performing complete end to end routing in the network for Telefonia Spain, while concurrently helping to reduce operating costs operating costs nplgastos mpl operacionales .

This network deployment is the latest in a string of ABL success within Spain dating back to 1991. ABL installed the first public videoconferencing network in Spain, which was quickly followed with ABL, being selected as the codec of choice to build the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games contribution network which linked over 70 event sites and provided Olympic Games coverage to the world's broadcasters. ABL has also installed contribution and distribution networks in the Basque province, and this latest deployment is an affirmation of the qualitative superiority of ABL technology.

"We chose ABL because of the very high quality of their video codecs, ABL's extensive experience in video contribution networks and their ability to deliver and install the network within a short period of time" said Pable Heredia, Telefonica's Major Account Technical Support Manager, "We were impressed by ABL's overall response and by their world class technical support that ensured network operability Operability is the ability to keep a system in a functioning and operating condition. In a computing systems environment with multiple systems this includes the ability of products, systems and business processes to work together to accomplish a common task such as finding and  within a very tight set of deadlines. ABL's total commitment at all stages of the project, has been key to the successful implementation of the RTVA network."

"ABL's success with Telefonica Spain is a continuation of the strong work that ABL has accomplished with other Telefonica companies in Latin America" said Bill McKenzie, ABL's President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization.
