ABCNEWS.com To Offer Interactive Exit Polls for Arizona & Michigan Primaries; Only Site Enabling Users To Match Preferences With Primary Voters.

GO.com's ABCNEWS.com, the first Web site to offer interactive exit polls, will provide the feature for the Tuesday, February 22, Republican primaries in Arizona and Michigan. ABCNEWS.com is the only online service enabling users to compare their views with those of people voting in an actual state primary. ABCNEWS.com is part of GO.com (NYSE NYSE

"This is the first election year in which the Internet is playing an integral role in informing and educating the electorate," said Bernard Gershon, vice president and general manager, ABCNEWS.com. "Thus, we are constantly adding features such as the interactive exit polls that take advantage of the interactivity and immediacy of the Internet. These polls will be a mainstay on ABCNEWS.com during the primary season, as well as during the general elections in November."

At the close of each primary, ABCNEWS.com will post the same questions asked of primary voters exiting polling locations in states conducting primaries. After submitting their answers, users will see their individual preferences highlighted amidst the actual exit poll results, enabling them to compare their views with those participating in the actual random-sample exit polls conducted by the Voter News Service The Voter News Service was a consortium whose mission was to provide results for United States Presidential elections, so that individual organizations and networks would not have to do exit polling and vote tallying in parallel.  consortium.

Participants' clicks will not be tabulated. They do not represent a random or representative sample and are vulnerable to manipulation.

ABCNEWS.com's "2000 Vote" package includes coverage from the 40-person ABCNEWS team on the election trail, including daily briefings from the road with the candidates; streaming video and audio of candidate debates and other events; weekly surveys and analysis from the ABCNEWS polling unit; and up-to-the-minute vote results and ABCNEWS projected winners of the primaries and November elections.

The site also offers exit poll data after polls close; Ann Compton's daily "On Background" column on politics; SamDonaldson@ABCNEWS.com, a live, three-times-a-week Internet-only program; the weekly "Here's The Point" audio program hosted by ABC News Political Director Mark Halperin; searchable video; on-demand video and transcripts from Nightline, Good Morning America Good Morning America is a weekday morning news show that is broadcast on the ABC television network. The show was adapted from The Morning Exchange, a morning show created by and airing on the ABC affiliate in Cleveland, Ohio, and was launched nationally as , This Week and World News Tonight; video and audio political commercials; and daily comprehensive coverage from ABCNEWS.com's political team.
