ABC'S `GREY' MAY HEAL ANOTHER DAY.

Despite its big hits, ABC has vast swatches of prime-time real estate drawing few viewers, so on Tuesday, the network unveiled an aggressive, ambitious 2006-07 schedule that includes a daunting 16 new series -- six new dramas, six new comedies, as well as several new reality series.

Perhaps the network's most aggressive move was relocating the day and time of its romantic medical hit ``Grey's Anatomy.'' It moves from 10 p.m. Sundays to 9 p.m. Thursdays, opposite CBS' ``CSI: Crime Scene Investigation'' and NBC's new series from Aaron Sorkin, ``Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.''

But all anyone was talking about after the network's upfront presentation at New York's Lincoln Center was ABC Entertainment president Stephen McPherson's torrid cha-cha-cha with a scantily clad ballroom dancer, ostensibly the result of a bet he lost with Jimmy Kimmel.

McPherson could afford the moment of levity.

``Two years ago, we were left for dead,'' he declared. Now, ``ABC has more appointment television than anyone. We have tasted success, and we are more determined than ever to build on it.''

New dramas include:

``Brothers & Sisters,'' a family melodrama starring Calista Flockhart and Rachel Griffiths.

``Day Break,'' billed as a cross between ``The Fugitive'' and ``Groundhog Day,'' starring Taye Diggs as a cop framed for murder who must relive the same day repeatedly until he extricates himself from his predicament.

``Men in Trees,'' starring Anne Heche as the hapless author of self-help dating books who finds herself in Alaska, where the ratio of men to women is 10-to-1.

``The Nine,'' in which nine surviving hostages of a bank robbery cope with the repercussions of surviving the tragedy.

``Six Degrees,'' uniting six strangers through a series of karmic coincidences.

``Traveler,'' another ``Fugitive'' knockoff in which two guys suspected of a terrorist act seek the mysterious friend who framed them.

New comedies include:

``Betty the Ugly,'' an hourlong comedy about an awkward young woman who finds herself a fish out of water at a glossy fashion magazine, from executive producer Salma Hayek.

``Big Day,'' a real-time sitcom (a la ``24'') tracking a young couple's disastrous wedding day.

``Help Me Help You,'' starring Ted Danson as a psychiatrist in need of some psychoanalysis himself, and the assorted nutcases in his group-therapy session.

``In Case of Emergency,'' which unexpectedly reunites four high-school friends at the lowest moments of their lives and traces the support they offer one another.

``Let's Rob --'' in which loutish oafs (and their intern) plot a heist at Mick Jagger's (who will appear occasionally) swanky New York condo.

``Notes From the Underbelly,'' concerning 30-somethings considering the joys and terrors of parenthood.

The network's live presentation of its added reality programming conflicted with its press release, so any of these may or may not be appearing on the network next season:

``Set for the Rest of Your Life,'' a game show from the producers of ``Deal or No Deal.''

``Buy It Now,'' presented in conjunction with eBay.

``Master of Champions,'' a competition among people with oddball talents.

``One Ocean View,'' an island-based competition.

Also announced but not presented were ``Greg Behrendt's Wake-Up Call'' and ``Just for Laughs.''
