ABB gets world's first motor repair certification.

ABB has become the first manufacturer in the world to receive certification for its qualification programme of service facilities for hazardous area motors.

The certificate has been granted by the leading French certification body for the electrical and electronics sectors, BV-LCIE.

This allows ABB to issue certificates of authorisation to Ex workshops or repair facilities that comply with ABB's qualification programme, which includes the strict requirements of IEC/EN 60079-19 and Atex Directive The introduction to this article provides insufficient context for those unfamiliar with the subject matter.

It confirms that the workshop has been audited by ABB, guaranteeing that ABB Ex motors repaired or overhauled there are safe.
