 will use ABB's compact gas insulated switchgear The term switchgear, used in association with the electric power system, or grid, refers to the combination of electrical disconnects, fuses and/or circuit breakers used to isolate electrical equipment.  (GIS) technology.

Under the terms of the contract, ABB will supply 18 GIS switchbays and associated equipment, four 240-MVA transformers, and substation protection and control systems. ABB is also responsible for the engineering design and civil works as well as the complete installation and commissioning. The project is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2004.
