ABAXIS reports fiscal first-quarter financial results.SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(HealthWire)--July 27, 1995--ABAXIS Inc. (NASDAQ/NM:ABAX ABAX Abaxial ), a medical-products company, Thursday reported operating results for its first fiscal quarter ended June 30, 1995. For the three-month period, the company reported a net loss of $1,455,000, or 17 cents per share Cents per share The amount of a mutual fund's dividend or capital gains distributions that a shareholder will receive for each share owned. , compared with a net loss of $2,805,000, or 45 cents per share, for the comparable period in the prior year. Total revenues were $602,000 for the quarter, as compared with development revenues of $20,000 for the same period last year. Commenting on the quarter, Gary Stroy, president and chief executive officer of ABAXIS, cited several accomplishments that have brought the company closer to launching its Piccolo piccolo, small transverse flute pitched an octave higher than the standard flute. Its tone is bright and shrill, and it can produce the highest notes in the orchestral range. The piccolo is used in orchestras and especially in military bands. See fife.
