ABAG to Convene Regional Hearing on BofA Merger; Supervisors Mary King and Michael Yaki Make the Request.


OAKLAND, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 28, 1998--The Association of Bay Area Governments The Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) is a regional planning agency incorporating various local governments in the San Francisco Bay Area in California. It deals with land use, housing, environmental quality, and economic development.  will convene a regional hearing to receive testimony on the impact of the merger between BankAmerica and NationsBank.

Individuals or representatives from the nine-county Bay Area who would like to testify are asked to register in advance by calling Michelle Fadelli, Manager of Communications and Governmental Affairs, at 510/464-7922. As time permits, non-registered speakers will be allowed to make comments. The meeting is open to the public; however, seating is limited. In order to be submitted to the Federal Reserve, all testimony should be accompanied by a written copy.

Speakers are expected to include representatives of business, government, labor, community-based organizations, and advocates for minority populations. Testimony will be submitted to the Federal Reserve, and will likely be accompanied by a "top ten list" of regional concerns, based on the testimony submitted.

The Association of Bay Area Governments is the planning and services agency for the 9 counties and 100 cities in the Bay Area.
