Y2K - Year 2000 Help While arguments continue over whether the next millennium will be when the ball drops at midnight on December 31st of this year or next, school leaders don't have the luxury of waiting another 12 months before addressing possible computer-related problems--known all too well as Y2K bugs. The U.S. Department of Education recently surveyed school districts about Y2K issues and found that, while the vast majority of schools have taken steps toward compliance, smaller districts are often behind in rectifying potential problems. The good news is districts report that major steps can be taken to stave off Y2K glitches in 21 days, so there is still time to make adjustments. To help you get started, the Education Department and the Small Business Administration have created special Y2K web sites.
