AARON `RED' DOFF, 76, PUBLICIST, PRODUCER, AGENT.

Aaron ``Red'' Doff, a well-known Hollywood publicist, producer and talent agent, died in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  on Friday. He was 76.

Doff died of chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder at the U.S. Veterans Administration Nursing Home in West Los Angeles

He began his career in the entertainment industry as a child actor on the radio program ``Uncle Whoa Bill.''

Years later, Doff managed the house band at the Coconut Grove nightclub at the Ambassador Hotel. The band included pianist Max Bouquet.

Doff served in the Army from 1942 to 1945 as a member of the 4th Infantry. He was wounded at Hurtgen Forest The Hürtgen forest (also: Huertgen Forest; German: Hürtgenwald) is located along the border between Belgium and Germany in the southwest corner of the German federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia. , Germany, and was honorably discharged at the rank of captain with a Purple Heart Purple Heart

After the war, Doff became a press agent, handling clients including Frankie Laine, Liberace, Ray Anthony, Doris Day and Les Paul. He was also Mickey Rooney's personal manager for 20 years.

Doff was a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and past president and co-founder of the Conference of Personal Managers.

In the mid-1970s, Doff co-founded Freeman & Doff Inc. Public Relations public relations, activities and policies used to create public interest in a person, idea, product, institution, or business establishment. By its nature, public relations is devoted to serving particular interests by presenting them to the public in the most  with longtime friend Mickey Freeman.

He formed his own company, Red Doff & Associates, in 1983 and again represented Rooney and other celebrities, including Connie Stevens, Eva Gabor, Gene Barry, Brent Musburger and Dr. Bruce Hensel.

``My father loved the music business and publicity,'' said Melody Doff Legget, Doff's daughter by his late wife Marilyn Morrison. ``He was also inspired by the theater.''

Doff was married for 38 years to Morrison, who passed away Dec. 25, 1995. They are survived by their children, daughters Casey Travers and Legget, and son Charles Doff, all of Los Angeles.

Doff had two children from a previous marriage, Andrea Adams and Larry Pike, both also of Los Angeles, and two grandchildren. Doff is also survived by a brother, Jerry Doff of Santa Monica.

The funeral Mass is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Good Shepherd Church, 505 N. Bedford Drive, Beverly Hills. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery Holy Cross Cemetery may refer to:
